Frequently Asked Questions

  • Express your interest via e-mail and send it to volunteer@galilee.gr  or call us on 210-6635955 (Extension15)
  • Attend an interview
  • If your application is accepted, you will need to complete the 40-hour volunteer training programme that runs from October to June.
  • Once you have completed the training programme you will need to sign a volunteer contract and confidentiality statement and choose which area you would like to work in.

All of our volunteers must complete the 40-hour training programme and acquire the knowledge, skills, and ethos required to work in such a sensitive area as palliative care, particularly in situations where the volunteer will work closely with patients and their families.

Apart from our volunteers, we also have friends of Galilee who can help with tasks that do not need this kind of training, such as shopping, transporting meals, ironing, helping with an event, simple paperwork, and so on.

Call us to speak to our volunteer department on (+30) 210-6635955 (Extension 15) to find out how you can help.

If you are not sure about which role is suitable for you or you have skills and experience that does not fit into the volunteer roles described here, please call us and speak to our volunteer department on (+30) 210-6635955 (Extension 15) to discuss how you could help.

To join a volunteer team you must be at least 18 years old. There is no other age restriction.

Our volunteers are not paid nor do we ask them to pay anything.  They pay only for the cost of their own travel to and from where the volunteer activity takes place.

Many of the volunteer roles require some emotional involvement and this may not be easy if you are going through a period of bereavement.  It is usually advisable to wait for about a year to go by.  But everyone is different, and if you wish to become a volunteer and feel able to manage your grief, call us to speak to our volunteer department on (+30) 210-6635955 (Extension 15) to discuss.
