Training/Professional Development

Good training leads to good care and that is why we have provided training opportunities to health professionals as well as to the community right from the start.

Our goal for the future: a Modern Training and Research Centre focusing on palliative care and bioethics

Our society is constantly faced with new challenges:

  • An ageing population, with increasingly complex needs and problems associated with old age and disease.
  • A high percentage of this ageing population does not receive the care they need for the conditions they suffer from, particularly the terminally ill.
  • The National Health System and other health provision in Greece does not currently have the resources to meet the particular needs of this section of the population and their families with dignity, love, and humanity.
  • Palliative care is not available in the rest of Greece

Despite these challenges, we must find new ways to ensure that everyone receives the care they need and deserve, including at the end of their life.

In order to make this vision a reality, we aim to build a modern training centre within the next few years.

This new centre will provide an educational environment that will encourage research and discussion on bioethics, life, and the quality of care provision for seriously and terminally ill patients.

It will also enable us to train an even greater number of health professionals and non-specialists in the care of patients with serious and terminal illnesses, and in bereavement support.
