A Message from the Metropolitan

“GALILEE” marks 15 years of a journey in a field that is new to our country, yet so essential for patients and their families, for institutions, and our entire society. A journey with the people we cared for—who, in their way, we felt also cared for us—with their families, with our partners, with the professionals of our nation’s Health & Welfare System, with colleagues from abroad, with donors, volunteers, and the local—and beyond—community.

A rich journey with great dedication to a work carried out with devotion by a family of people who each contribute—some their knowledge, others their time, others their resources, others their trust by offering a kind word—and all together a sincere and clear spirit of giving.

At times, the journey had difficulties and unexpected turns, but commitment to quality, respect, scientific rigor, teamwork, and transparency led to the continual progress of the work.

Our vision remains that every patient in our country who is in need can receive quality Palliative Care services, regardless of nationality, religion, or economic and social status. For this reason, we are always ready to share our experience from our fifteen-year journey, our enthusiasm, and our knowledge, and to collaborate with new Units that will develop their journey—which we wholeheartedly wish will be even better than ours—so that together we may contribute to the common vision.

Thus, on March 1, as we complete 15 years of this journey, we renew our strength with faith and hope for those we care for and are connected with, and for every person, and we continue to…

WE EMBRACE EVERY JOURNEY!

 The President of “GALILEE”
† Metropolitan Nikolaos of Mesogaia & Lavreotiki NIKOLAOS
